Underwater Volcanic in Canary Islands!

November 10, 2011

firstfridaysrevival - Two beaches in the Canary Islands have been closed by authorities due to potentially toxic gases emanating from an underwater volcano. Volcanic activity off the island of El Hierro began about a month ago, with witnesses reporting explosions of 25 metres above sea level.

Hundreds of low intensity earthquakes have also hit the island during the past month and dead fish found along the shoreline.

Residents of the island village of La Restinga were even evacuated when the volcano began spilling.
