National Guard Training for Riot Control, Mass Detentions

June 15, 2010

SHTFPlan.com - In a previous story we noted that Reports Surfacing of Multi-State National Guard Mobilizations.

Further information made available after our report, much of which was published in the comment section by contributors who scoured the web for more information on the subject, suggests that the report was true and that national guard units had indeed been called up for training and possible deployment for domestic emergencies.

With the BP oil leak heating up (literally), there is a distinct possibility of noxious fumes and toxic hurricanes hitting our coasts over the coming months. Because there is minimal research on the subject available to the public, it is difficult to establish what is or is not a threat. Nonetheless, we advise those of our readers on or near the coast to remain aware of any developments regarding the possibility of emergencies or evacuations in their areas.

For those who may think we are overreacting to the possibility that the federal government would respond to an emergency, specifically mandatory evacuations on the Gulf Coast with the use of National Guard troops, we direct you to the article below, brought to our attention by Worldwide Wake Up Now and originally published at Public Intelligence.

In the event of a mass evacuation event, be it on the Gulf Coast or as a result of an earthquake, chemical attack, biological attack, or other national emergency, we fully expect National Guard troops to be deployed. There will be mass chaos, violence, rioting, and looting, and local law enforcement simply will not have the capability to handle such a disaster.

The National Guard trains specifically for this, as depicted in the following article ...

Chicago Area to Roll Out Disaster Drills

June 14, 2010

Free Press International - The Illinois National Guard and local police, fire and transit departments are organizing a five-day series of drills set to test the Chicago area’s emergency procedures in response to numerous simultaneous disasters, officials said in a statement today.

The drills started today and are to last until Thursday.

“It is a full-scale exercise, so residents can expect to see emergency responders looking and acting as if this was a real homeland security/domestic response mission,” the National Guard said in a statement.
Officials said Toyota Park in southwest suburban Bridgeview will serve as a staging area for the exercise, while the Salvation Army in Elk Grove Village will serve as a command center.

The exercises began with a simulated crash in Oak Lawn of a jet on its way to Midway Airport.

The other exercises are:
  • The takedown of a simulated methamphetamine lab at Green Street and York Road in Bensenville on Tuesday.

  • Several simulated terrorist attacks in the Bensenville area on Wednesday. At some time between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., the CTA will conduct a train evacuation at 15th and Clark streets because of a simulated explosion.

  • Another takedown in the Bensenville area and a simulated chemical explosion at a plant on Chicago’s Southwest Side.

Huge Number of Disaster Drills Held Throughout America

June 14, 2010

Holly Deyo - From terrorist attacks and hurricane evacuations to submarine base and nuclear power plant mishaps; bomb blasts, plane crashes, dirty bombs, hazmat spills, earthquakes, medical disasters and train derailments, America is on high alert. Over the past several weeks to the present, more than 35 major disaster drills are taking place throughout America. It makes one wonder what's prompting all of these emergency exercises and planning venues. Was it confusion over Gov. Palin's oft-quoted "drill, baby, drill?" No, it's recognition that the Feds are leaving ordinary citizens to fend for themselves. States aren't happy about this ...

States are waking up to the fact that we can't and shouldn't depend on government. If you're smart, you'll realize this too, and make your own preparations for whatever events might challenge your area. Clearly government is more concerned with appearances and buck passing than it is in getting job 1 done – preparing and protecting America.
