Will U.S. Troops Fire on the Citizens of This Nation?

Military Coup in America? Arab Spring Turns to American Summer?

Erik Prince, Blackwater's founder, has insisted that the private security force he hires for the UAE include no Muslims, because they "could not be counted on to kill fellow Muslims." The question to ask ourselves, 'Will the U.S. military and others with government badges fire on Americans?'.

Colonel6's Blog - ...Over the last few weeks, I have had the opportunity to be with members of all branches of the military...Many people think that the military is a bunch of blood thirsty marginal sociopaths just waiting to kill somebody, anybody. Nothing could be further from the truth. The military is like the fire department: they don’t want to see lives and property lost in fires. However, they are prepared to do what they can to stop in an aggressive manner. I think that is a very good analogy.

As you can imagine, the undeclared and illegal acts of aggression being engaged in by the US military in Libya, Afghanistan, and Iraq have been the impetus of some very deep discussions. We are of all ranks. We have many years of experience. Some with more than others. The one common factor is at least two combat tours.

There is a deep and abiding anger in this nation. The citizens that voted in the last election made it very clear how they felt. Various polls show that a majority of people want these military excursions to end. They have cost way too much in blood and treasure. They have no realistic direction or legitimate purpose for the citizens.

The minds of men and women exposed to over a thousand hours of combat over sometimes more than three tours in theater have created a Frankenstein that this nation can ill afford to have. The PTSD rate and drug addiction in the units that have been deployed have been astronomical in relation to any other engagements in military history.

American foreign policy has deep and in some cases intractable flaws. If things are drawn out to their logical conclusions, we could be in combat somewhere in the world well past 2020. Afghanistan is already the longest fight that the military has been in and there is really no end in sight.

The DEPRESSION that our economy is in will not end for years and promises to only get worse before it has an opportunity to improve. Unemployment is much higher than the federal bean counters tell us. We are in a hole that is being dug further with each passing hour. It must stop.

History has shown that empires and democracies have lasted an average of 200 years. The grand experiment called America has limped forward on mostly borrowed time. That fact coupled with the aforementioned problems make for a perfect storm that would produce the imposition of martial law. That is when you will come to know when the bullet hits the bone.

If (and I use that very liberally) martial law is declared under the conditions that exist today and no doubt will be worse at the time of imposition of such action, I see the inevitable happening.

Military Officers owe no allegiance to the POTUS (President of the United States). The founding fathers were brilliant in that respect. They had seen tyranny up close and purpose and they built-in a safety valve. That valve leaves open the very real possibility of the military, in order to maintain the continuance of the nation, making very drastic moves in order to do so. The following will give those that have the intelligence to understand it, the means to bring it into greater focus and scope.

The enlisted oath alludes to the office.

However, read it carefully and you can see they won’t obey the President if the officers tell them not to. I think the number of officers that would order their troops to fire on the citizens of this nation is negligible.

The wordings of the current oath of enlistment and oath for commissioned officers are as follows:

Enlisted Oath

“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

(Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

Officer Oath

“I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.”

Not a mention of the President of the United States in the officers oath.

What is understood need not be discussed.
