Ron Paul Gets Twice as Much Support from Active Military Personnel Than All the Other Candidates Combined
Congressman Ron Paul “has never voted to raise a tax and voted against all of the bailouts that have riled up Tea Partiers and Occupy Wall Streeters alike. His prediction that the United States can no longer afford the economic cost of our overseas commitments makes many Republicans uncomfortable, possibly by the very truth of the assertion. For decades he has been that rare sort of politician who speaks what he believes to be the truth and doesn’t flutter in the wind of public opinion. That could not be said of Obama or Romney.” - Editors of three of the New Hampshire newspapers endorsing Ron Paul for president, January 5, 2012Despite numerous Republican candidates attacking Ron Paul over his “dangerous” foreign policy, Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer praised Paul for being the “most accurate” out of all the GOP contenders when it came to his perspective on Iran.
Ron Paul Blasts Back at 'Chicken Hawk' Gingrich
“Gingrich has no business talking about danger because he is putting other people in danger”January 4, 2012
Infowars.com - Following his strong finish in the Iowa caucuses, GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul hit back today at rival Newt Gingrich following comments by the former Speaker of The House that Paul was “stunningly dangerous” to the U.S.
After he came in fourth place behind the Congressman, Gingrich slammed Paul during his speech in Iowa last night.
Paul, who served as a surgeon in the U.S. Air Force after attending medical school, blasted back during a CNN appearance this morning, labeling Gingrich a “chickenhawk” who avoided the Vietnam War.
“I don’t want to fight a war that’s unconstitutional and I’m the dangerous person?” Paul urged.
“You know, when Newt Gingrich was called to service in the 1960s during the Vietnam era, guess what he thought about danger? He chickened out on that, he got deferments and didn’t even go,” Paul added.
“So right now he sends these young kids over there to endure the danger, and the kids coming back, the young people coming back and the ones in the military right now, they overwhelmingly support my campaign,” the Congressman continued.
Referencing the number of veterans who are supporting his bid and endorsing his platform of limited overseas involvement, Paul added:
“We get twice as much support from active military personnel than all the other candidates put together”
“So, Newt Gingrich has no business talking about danger because he is putting other people in danger. Some people call that kind of a program a chickenhawk and I think he falls into that category,” Paul asserted, pointing to Gingrich’s support for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
